United States Army
Line of Duty Death: September 14, 2007

On September 14, 2007, Private First Class Christopher Michael McCloud was killed when his vehicle ran over an improvised explosive device in Muqdadiyah , Iraq during Operation Iraqi Freedom, also killing three other members of his unit. McCloud was assigned to the 6th Squadron, 9th U.S. Cavalry, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division.

McCloud was born to a loving, close knit family consisting of his parents, brother, grandmother, and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. He enjoyed spending time outdoors, building model cars, and spending time with his grandmother. McCloud met his wife, Sheena, at the age of 15, and they went on to have two sons, Aidan and Landyn.

McCloud had aspirations of joining the military since he was young, but that desire to serve was only exacerbated by the tragedy of 9/11. Despite feeling compelled to enlist shortly after, McCloud refrained and instead, cared for his grandmother in her last years of life. After the passing of his grandmother and the births of his two sons, McCloud enlisted in the United States Army in 2006. He was honored to serve his country and serve as a role model for his sons.

McCloud was deployed to Iraq in May 2007 and was scheduled to return home in November.

McCloud is remembered for his selflessness and immense love for his family. He was a loving and devoted husband and father, who put his family before everything else.

Private First Class Christopher Michael McCloud is survived by his wife, Sheena, and two sons, Aidan and Landyn.
