Army
Line of Duty Death: July 12, 2018

Sgt. 1st Class Christopher Celiz, an Army Ranger, was killed by enemy fire on July 12, 2018, while conducting operations in support of a medical evacuation landing zone in Paktiya province, Afghanistan. Celiz was on his seventh deployment when he was killed. He was posthumously awarded the Meritorious Service Medal, Bronze Star Medal, and the Purple Heart.

He left behind his wife, Katherine, and their daughter Shannon. The Celiz family received their new home in Savannah, Georgia on May 9, 2019.

Katherine was extremely grateful for the gift of a mortgage-free home. “Thanks to Tunnel to Towers, I no longer have to worry about maintaining a roof over my daughter’s head – I’m no longer scared I won’t be able to provide a safe place to raise Shannon – a place where she can create new happy memories.”
