United States Army Lieutenant Colonel • Line of Duty Death: November 13, 2023

United States Army Lieutenant Colonel Bryan C. Herzog passed away unexpectedly on November 13, 2023 while he was training at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas.

Herzog was born in Florida and lived in several east coast states growing up alongside his brother and sister. Herzog met his wife, Jennifer, in high school in Pennsylvania. The pair were later married and began their beautiful life together.

In 2002, Herzog was accepted into the US Military Academy at West Point and majored in military history. He graduated in May of 2006 and was commissioned as an Infantry Officer. He was very passionate about his career and achieved many notable accomplishments during his career, including but not limited to three deployments to combat operations in Iraq, the Bronze Star Medal (1OLC), Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal (2OLC), and the Combat Infantryman Badge. In 2007, Herzog served as a Platoon Leader in New York. Following that assignment, he served as a Platoon Leader in Fort Drum. Bryan served as the Company Commander in Fort Hood, Texas in 2010. Then, he commanded Delta Company 1-3 Infantry and the Honor Guard Company in Fort Myer, Virginia. Herzog was the S3 of the 3rd Brigade, 25th Infantry Division and the Executive Officer of the 3-4 CAV Squadron while he was assigned to Schofield Barracks, Hawaii. He was chosen for an assignment on the Joint Staff following his time as the brigade S3. Herzog was selected for Battalion Command while at the Pentagon and will take over command of 1-27 Infantry at Schofield Barracks, Hawaii, in May 2024.

United States Army Lieutenant Colonel Bryan C. Herzog is survived by his wife, Jennifer and his four children.
