United States Navy Petty Officer 3rd Class Breon Coyle • Line of Duty Death: June 29, 2020
United States Navy Petty Officer 3rd Class Breon Coyle tragically passed away on June 29, 2020, due to service-connected Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS).
Coyle served his country with dedication and devotion, but it was his work caring for others during life’s most meaningful moments that truly defined his service. As a corpsman on the Labor and Delivery ward at Naval Medical Center San Diego, Breon brought both skill and unwavering dedication and devotion to every family he served. Having supported his wife, Shauniece, in the delivery room, he was able to guide fellow corpsmen on how to support both mothers and fathers during some of life’s most emotional moments. Coyle later became a team lead, where he trained new staff, prepared memory boxes for families who experienced loss, and created a safe space for fathers to set aside rank and pride, allowing them to feel, process, and ultimately show up for their families with strength and love. He even had the honor of assisting in the births of a close friend’s daughter and our two sons.
Coyle met his wife, Shauniece, when they were just twelve years old. Watching him grow from a boy into a man was one of the greatest honors for her. No matter where he went, Coyle had a gift for touching people’s lives—motivating them to be their best and always offering a helping hand when it was needed most.
What amazed his wife most was how Coyle carried the emotional weight of his work with such grace. He still came home to his family full of laughter, love, and light. He was an incredible father to his three children and a devoted husband who loved his wife unconditionally. Coyle was also the life of the party—especially when he was with his two brothers and family—bringing joy and energy wherever he went.
On June 29, 2021, the Coyle family experienced an unimaginable loss when Coyle passed away after a courageous battle with ALS. From that day forward, their mission has been to keep his name, his legacy, and his light alive through their lives, their children, and the love he poured into all of them.
US Navy Petty Officer 3rd Class Breon Coyle is survived by his devoted wife, Shauniece, and their beloved children.Â
