PLANNED GIVING

WAYS TO GIVE

Planned gifts have an enormous and lasting impact on the Tunnel to Towers Foundation. By making a planned gift to the Foundation as a part of your legacy, you will be investing in our nation’s most deserving heroes. You will ensure that the Foundation can continue its mission to support America’s heroes and their families for years to come.

You can name the Foundation in your will for a specific amount or a percentage of your estate. You can also name the Foundation as a beneficiary of your estate after the payment of expenses and gifts to loved ones. We encourage you to discuss your estate plans with an attorney.

We suggest using the following language in your will:

I give and bequeath to the Tunnel to Towers Foundation, a not-for-profit corporation with an address of 2361 Hylan Boulevard, Staten Island, New York 10306, the sum of $_____ (or__ % of my estate; or the property described herein) to be used for the accomplishment of its general purposes.

The Foundation requires a complete copy of the gift instrument in order to verify and properly facilitate the transfer of the charitable bequest.

A charitable remainder trust (CRT) is established when a donor transfers cash or property to the trust. The trust then makes payments for a lifetime or a specified number of years to the donor, and the remainder is distributed to the charity. A CRT allows you to protect your assets as well as the future of our Foundation.

By directing your money to a CRT, you will be able to provide for your family’s future. In addition, a CRT reduces your income taxes now and estate taxes when you die. This trust partnership will fulfill your financial dream for your family, and help the Foundation carry on its mission.

The SECURE Act 2.0 became law in 2023 and created a great opportunity for our friends who are age 70 and older and own IRAs. If you are over age 70, the Legacy IRA allows you to make a one-time transfer of up to $53,000 from your IRA directly to Tunnel to Towers and receive a lifetime income from a Charitable Gift Annuity in return. The transfer is non-taxable and if you’re over age 73, will count against that year’s required minimum distribution.

You may select a guaranteed fixed annuity payment for your lifetime or joint lifetimes with your spouse.
