Knoxville Police Department, Tennessee • Line of Duty Death: February 25, 2024

Police Officer Wisbens “Chacado” Antoine joined the Knoxville Police Department in 2023 as a Public Safety Officer B Basic recruit. On Friday, February 23, 2024, he collapsed during Basic Recruit training at the end of a mile and a half run. The training staff attempted CPR and AED techniques before he was taken to the hospital where he was admitted and ultimately his condition worsened. Early Sunday morning on February 25, 2024, he passed away. Before he transitioned, he took the oath to become a police officer with a judge and command staff at his bedside. They placed his badge on his heart. Antoine was 32 years old and had served for one day. He was scheduled to be sworn in with his classmates on March 5, 2024. 

Antoine was born in Jean-Rabel, Haiti. He was the beloved son of Melanie Forestal and Dieudinor Antione. He grew up with his siblings, Rosemite, Wisner, Rose-Laure and Marsha. In 2022, Antione married his wife, Kendra, and together, they had two daughters, Gianna and Geleah. Antione shared a deep bond with his family and was a devoted father to his daughters. He took great pride in watching them grow and thrive and his love for them knew no bounds.

In the fall of 2023, Antoine answered the call to serve and enrolled in the police academy. He was dedicated, kind, compassionate, and determined to succeed. He was admired by his peers. He had a welcoming spirit and a generous heart.

Knoxville Police Department Police Officer Wisbens “Chacado” Antoine is survived by his loving wife Kendra, his daughters Gianna and Geleah and many cherished family members and friends.
