Carrollton Police Department, Texas ● Line of Duty Death: October 18, 2022

On October 18th, 2022 Patrol Officer Steven Robert Nothem II was parked on a tollway to protect officers performing a DUI investigation when he was struck by a vehicle. The driver of said vehicle did not attempt to stop and also died at the scene.

Nothem devoted eight years to the United States Marine Corps during which he was stationed at Camp Pendleton, California before being honorably discharged. Upon his discharge Nothem attended a University in Utah to acquire his Criminal Justice degree. After his studies were complete Nothem completed the police academy and began working with the Grand Chute, Wisconsin Police Department in 2016, with ambition to become a detective. He worked in Wisconsin for four years before relocating to Texas with his family in 2020 and finding employment with the Carrollton Police Department. Nothem always wanted to serve others and he died the way he lived: protecting his community.

Patrol Officer Steven Robert Nothem II is survived by his wife, Cristl, and their four children, Samuel, Carter, Logan, and Sadie.
