Osage Beach Police Department, Missouri • Line of Duty Death: August 31, 2024
Osage Beach Police Department Police Officer Phylicia Carson passed away on August 31, 2024 while in the line of duty.
Prior to her law enforcement career, Carson was a stay-at-home wife to Grant Carson and mother to her six beautiful children. In her free time, she loved spending time with her family at their family farm, hunting, riding dirt bikes, and styling her daughters’ hair. Additionally, she and her family frequently attended their local church, where Carson was involved with the kids ministry program.
With her passion to keep her community safe, Carson began her career in law enforcement in June of 2023 with the Osage Beach Police Department. After graduating from the Law Enforcement Training Institute through the University of Missouri Extension in September of 2023, she went on duty for the first time. Just under one year later, on August 31, 2024, Carson was on patrol when she pursued a speeding vehicle in Camden County, Missouri. The suspect failed to pull over, resulting in a high-speed chase, which led to Carson losing control of her vehicle and crashing. The suspect crashed soon after and, under Missouri’s new Valentine’s Law, was detained and charged with aggravated fleeing a stop or detention of a motor vehicle, resulting in death. Carson’s tragic death is the first line of duty loss for the Osage Beach Police Department in 30 years. She was 33 years old. In honor of Carson’s honorable service and heroic sacrifice, the Tunnel to Towers Foundation is providing Carson’s husband, Grant, and her six children with a mortgage-free home.
Osage Beach Police Department Police Officer Phylicia Carson leaves behind her loving husband, Grant, her six beautiful children, Teighan, Raye, Emlyn, Roma, Chevy and Rhenner, her parents, and her siblings, as well as many extended family members and friends.
