Deputy Commander Patrick Carothers was shot and killed while he attempted to serve an arrest warrant in Long County, Georgia.
Deputy Commander Carothers had served with the United States Marshals Service for 26 years.
The 53-year-old leaves behind his wife Terry, and five children.
The Tunnel to Towers Foundation paid off the family’s mortgage in July 2021 in honor of Independence Day.
