Hermann Police Department, Missouri • Line of Duty Death: March 12, 2023

Hermann Police Department Detective Sergeant Mason Griffith passed away on March 12, 2023 while in the line of duty.

Griffith was born in St. Louis, Missouri and raised in Sullivan, Missouri. Throughout his childhood, he was very active in the school band and Police Explorers. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing. Griffith and his wife, Jennifer, met through mutual friends and were later married.

With a passion for helping others, Griffith decided to become a police officer. When he was 14 years old, he involved himself with Police Explorers and graduated when he was 21 as a police officer. He took pride in his career and made it his priority to make the community safe. Griffith excelled, having been promoted to Chief after only six years of service. Throughout his honorable career, he served as Detective Sergeant with the Hermann Police Department, Chief of Police of the Rosebud Police Department, and Reserve Deputy with the Gasconade County Sheriff’s Department, as well as with the Gerald-Rosebud Fire Department. He also devoted time to his faith as a member of the Zion Church of Bland. In March of 2023, while assisting another officer in a disturbance, the suspect fatally shot Griffth and his partner, resulting in his premature death.

Jennifer currently resides in Missouri with her children, Karson and Trevor. She enjoys honoring her husband’s memory and doing anything she can to help her community and the families of first responders. She is thankful to Tunnel to Towers for lifting the financial burden of a mortgage from her shoulders as it allows her the free time to help others. Griffith is severely missed.

Hermann Police Department Detective Sergeant Mason Griffith is survived by his wife, Jennifer, and his sons, Karson and Trevor.

The Tunnel to Towers Foundation has paid off the mortgage of the Griffith family home through the Fallen First Responder Home Program.
