London Police Department, Kentucky • Line of Duty Death: October 30, 2022
On October 30, 2022, London Police Department Police Officer Logan Kendal Medlock sustained fatal injuries when his patrol car was struck by an intoxicated driver.
Medlock was born in Lexington, Kentucky and raised in London, Kentucky. His childhood was happy and filled with fun. Although his parents were divorced, they strived to keep a healthy, loving relationship for Medlock, always showing him love and support. He loved hunting, fishing, football, and attending church. He and his wife, Courtney, met at 15 years old through a mutual friend and formed and instant connection.
As a child, Medlock loved law enforcement and felt it was his calling. His father was also a police officer and was his inspiration in joining. In August of 2019, Medlock was hired at London City Police Department. He was passionate about helping others and making a difference in his community. His main goal in serving was to get as many impaired drivers off of the road as he could. Throughout his career, Medlock was awarded with the Impaired Driving Enforcement Governor’s Award three years in a row, Meritorious Service Award, Award of Valor, Officer of the Year in 2022, and a Seatbelt Award.
Courtney and their son, Brantley, currently live in the home that she and Medlock had just purchased prior to his passing. In the future, she is excited to continue to watch her son grow, and be able to tell him stories about his father, and she intends to carry on her husband’s legacy to get impaired drivers off of the road. Courtney is grateful to Tunnel to Towers for allowing her and Brantley the opportunity to continue to live in the home she and Medlock chose to live in and raise their child in.
