Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, Florida • Line of Duty Death: June 9th, 2022

On June 9th, 2022 Florida Fish and Wildlife Senior Investigator Kyle Lee Patterson passed away due to injuries he sustained in a vehicle collision.

Patterson was born in Winter Park, Florida and raised in Christmas, Florida alongside his younger sister. As a child, he loved playing baseball, hunting, and being outdoors. Patterson excelled in baseball and eventually got a full scholarship to play at Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College where he also received his Associate of Applied Science degree in Criminal Justice. He was also involved in 4-H and FFA and showed steers at the county fair. Patterson and his wife, Alisha, met while they were in high school.

His love for the outdoors led Patterson to a career in which he could protect natural resources. Upon graduating from college in 2007, he began working with Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission as a Law Enforcement Officer with the Resource Protection Unit. He became an Investigator In 2012 before being promoted to Senior Investigator. He loved his job because he could always expect something new; every day was a challenge and he had the opportunity to meet new people. He had a goal to be promoted to Lieutenant before his premature passing. Throughout his career, Patterson was awarded with the Lifesaving Award in 2010, Exceptional Performance Award in 2015, Letter of Commendation in 2017, Guy Harvey Award in 2018, and 2020 FWC Team of the Year.

Alisha currently lives with their children, Kole and Kinsley. Together, they raise and show cattle, just as Patterson did. They also travel, attending jackpot shows. Kole is heavily involved in baseball and the family spends a lot of time at the ballpark. Additionally, the three of them love to spend time outdoors, hunting, fishing, going to the beach, and spending time with their family. Alisha helps St. Lucie County Farm Bureau put on a jackpot cattle show for children. In the future, she is excited to continue to watch her children grow. She is grateful to Tunnel to Towers for providing her with the relief of financial stress and the ability to do things for her children; spend time with them and enjoy the things they are involved in. She would like others to know that Patterson was a man of faith. He loved God and believed with all of his heart. He loved his family, cows, and helping others. He was a mentor to tons of people around his community.

Florida Fish and Wildlife Senior Investigator Kyle Lee Patterson is survived by his wife, Alisha and their two children, Kole and Kinsley.
