Rolla Volunteer Fire Department, Kansas ● Line of Duty Death: August 15, 2021

On August 15, 2021, Rolla Volunteer Fire Department Firefighter Joshua Michael Schwindt responded to a vehicle rollover accident where he came into contact with downed power lines while searching for victims of the vehicle accident and was electrocuted. 

Schwindt was born and raised in Boise City, Oklahoma and eventually relocated to Rolla, Kansas, where he and his wife, Shawn, lived for over 20 years and raised their family. Schwindt was a farmer by trade and worked at Light Farms for many years, while simultaneously serving with the Rolla Volunteer Fire Department. 

Schwindt is remembered as someone who could be counted on to help out around the community, wanting to provide for anyone who needed his assistance. Schwindt took pride in teaching his children valuable life skills and ensuring that they were self-sufficient, while always offering his love and support. He is remembered by his friends and family as an everyday hero, who cared for everyone around him. 

Firefighter Joshua Michael Schwindt is survived by his wife of 22 years, Shawn, their children, Karessa, Jordan, Deserae, and Jaxon
