Mission Police Cpl. Jose Espericueta was shot and killed in the line of duty on June 20, 2019, while trying to stop an armed suspect.
Cpl. Espericueta was a 13-year veteran of the Mission Police Department.
He was honored for his dedication and selflessness with a Meritorious Service Award after he ran into a burning building to save an elderly man who was trapped inside.
He leaves behind his wife, Bobbie, and two children.
