Saunders County Sheriff’s Department, Nebraska • Line of Duty Death: June 22, 2022

On June 22, 2022, Saunders County Deputy and Cedar Bluffs Volunteer Firefighter Jeff Hermanson passed away unexpectedly due to a heart attack.

Hermanson was born in Wahoo, Nebraska and grew up in the Leshara/Cedar Bluffs area. Hermanson was the oldest of 3 children, and always made the most out of everything growing up. Hermanson loved hunting, fishing, baseball, football and basketball. Hermanson met his wife in junior high and they dated throughout high school, eventually starting their life together as a married couple.

Hermanson joined the Cedar Bluffs Fire Department in 1996, as soon as he was of age, and graduated from Grand Island Law Enforcement Training Center in 2001. Hermanson dreamed of someday training with a police dog, and after years of hard work he accomplished his goal. Hermanson’s biggest accomplishment and greatest joy of his career was his K9 partner, Rudy.

Hermanson was a devoted husband and father. He became a staple in the community and was beloved by everyone. Hermanson lived every day to the fullest and was known as the life of the party. Hermanson was the type of person who would talk to anyone and quickly become friends.

Saunders County Deputy and Cedar Bluffs Volunteer Firefighter Jeff Hermanson is survived by his wife Cindi, and his two sons, Brayden and Carter.
