Tulsa Fire Department, Oklahoma • Line of Duty Death: January 22, 2024
Firefighter Harrison Moseby of the Tulsa Fire Department in Oklahoma, lost his courageous battle with occupational cancer on January 22, 2024. In March of 2022, he was diagnosed with Epitheloid Sarcoma, a very rare form of soft tissue cancer. This led to a forequarter arm amputation. He fought valiantly for over one year, with bravery, strength and unwavering faith. He knew that each obstacle and closed door was another opportunity for God to use him. He was 26 years old at the time of his death.
Moseby was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma to James and Shelbi Moseby. He attended Owasso Public Schools, graduating from High School in 2016. He went on to earn an Associate’s Degree in Business from Tulsa Community College. He also earned an honorary degree from Midwestern Seminary and Spurgeon College in Kansas City, Missouri. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Owasso his whole life. Moseby was awarded the title of Honorary Public Safety Chaplain by the North American Mission Board for his devotion to the cause of Christ.
In 2019, Moseby became a third generation Tulsa Firefighter, following in the footsteps of his father, Captain James Moseby, his grandfather, Local 176 President Dennis Moseby, his brother, Hayden, his father-in-law, FEO Bryan Byrd, and his two brothers-in-law, Brayden and Blake Burd. He exemplified the best of what makes a firefighter: selfless and resilient, courageous and caring. He was a man of faith, hope and love, living his life in service to others. “But those who hope in The Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint”. Isaiah 40:31.
Moseby married his wife, Mallory, on October 16, 2020 in Claremore, Oklahoma. They had two daughters: Kollyns Marianne and Gracelee Ellis Moseby. He loved spending time with his family, taking walks, watching movies and reading his Bible.
Firefighter Harrison Moseby of the Tulsa Fire Department in Oklahoma is survived by his loving wife, Mallory, daughters, Kollyns and Gracelee, his parents, Jim and Shelbi Moseby, his siblings, Hayden, Hilton and Hudson, and many other cherished family members and friends.
The Tunnel to Towers Foundation has provided the Moseby family with a mortgage-free home through the Fallen First Responder Home Program.
