Memphis Police Department, Tennessee • Line of Duty Death: August 2, 2024

Memphis Police Department Police Officer Demetrice Johnson of Tennessee was killed in the line of duty on August 2, 2024 at the age of 34. Johnson died after his patrol car was hit by a suspect that was fleeing the scene of a nearby shooting. His partner and fellow officer, who were also in the vehicle, sustained critical injuries. 

Growing up in Chicago, Johnson’s childhood dream was to become a police officer. He graduated from the Memphis Police Department Training Academy in March of 2024, serving only a few months before his premature death. 

Johnson was described as a people person who just wanted to help save the day. He was a loving man and had a beautiful soul. 

Memphis Police Department Police Officer Demetrice Johnson is survived by his wife, C’hosen, and their son, Chance.
