Dickson County Sheriff’s Office, Tennessee ● Line of Duty Death: May 30, 2018

On May 30, 2018, Sergeant Daniel Scott Baker was shot and killed by a suspect while responding to a call about a suspicious vehicle.

Baker was born in Dickson County, Tennessee and remained within the state of Tennessee for the duration of his life. As a child, Baker was friendly and helpful, often volunteering to help his neighbors and always making people around him laugh. His passion for helping others motivated him to serve his country by enlisting in the United States Marine Corps in 2004, after graduating high school. Baker was enthralled with the action and thrill he got from being a Marine, and earned two purple hearts for his bravery during his military career. He was deployed to Fallujah, Iraq and following his return in 2007, he began a career in law enforcement. He served for 10 years at Dickson County Sheriff’s Office. Baker quickly rose to the rank of day shift sergeant and was a member of the SWAT Team, for which he became a team leader, an accomplishment that he had set out to achieve when he joined law enforcement.

Sergeant Daniel Scott Baker is survived by his wife, Lisa, and daughter, Meredith.
