Commerce City Police Department, Colorado • Line of Duty Death: October 16, 2020
Detective Curt Holland, 37, was killed in the line of duty when his department vehicle was struck by a drunk driver on October 16, 2020.
Detective Holland had served with the Commerce City Police Department for four years.
He is survived by his wife, Amanda, and their two children, Norah June and Bennett Lee.
The Tunnel to Towers Foundation paid off the family’s mortgage in July 2021 in honor of Independence Day.
“I am so incredibly grateful to know that my children and I can stay in a home that means so much to us. This was the house that my husband and I dreamed of and worked so hard for. We moved in just over 4 months prior to his death, but he put in countless hours to make it perfect and comfortable in that time. Our son is very young, so over half of the memories I have of the two of them are here. I don’t have the words to fully explain what it means to have our mortgage paid off and to be able to stay here forever and feel a little closer to him, but I am thankful. The support given by Tunnel to Towers has taken a huge worry away during an inexplicably difficult time. It makes me feel so honored and appreciative for this to happen on such a special holiday that my husband and I truly enjoyed together in a community that we love. I am in awe of the work that the Foundation does for families like mine and to be a part of this anniversary event is unbelievable,” said Amanda.
