Kern County Fire Department, California • Line of Duty Death: July 14, 2022

Kern County Fire Department Station 23 Captain Brian Matthew Falk passed away on July 14, 2022 while in the line of duty.

Falk was born and raised in Bakersfield, CA. From a young age, he loved sports, excelling as a three sport student athlete of football, wrestling and baseball. He was known for his determination while being a fierce competitor, yet consistently showed good sportsmanship. He enjoyed activities including go karting, dirt bike riding, water skiing and drag racing, motorcycle riding and fishing with his dad.

After returning to Bakersfield from the University of Nevada Reno, Falk became a Kern County Probation Officer before joining the Kern County Fire Department. He served in the Kern County Fire Department for over 20 years and reached the rank of Captain. Falk passed away from a heart attack in his sleep at the fire station.

Jennifer currently resides in Texas with her two sons. Prior to Falk’s passing, they had relocated to Texas so that he could retire and take on a more active role in his son’s lives. As Jennifer and her two boys grieve the loss of her best friend and their father at such a young age, they are incredibly grateful to the Tunnel to Towers Foundation for lifting an immense burden as they take on many more throughout their grieving process. Jennifer would like others to know that the donation of a mortgage-free home from the Tunnel to Towers Foundation has been an amazing, gracious thing that has happened to their family. They are blessed beyond words and have much gratitude for the Foundation.

Kern County Fire Department Station 23 Captain Brian Matthew Falk is survived by his wife, Jennifer, and his children, Randy and Tyler.
