Spartanburg County Sheriff’s Office, South Carolina • Line of Duty Death: June 21, 2022

On June 21, 2022, Spartanburg County Sheriff’s Office Deputy 1st Class Austin Aldridge was fatally shot while responding to a domestic violence call. 

Deputy 1st Class Austin Aldridge was born and raised in the Greenville/Spartanburg area of South Carolina. He grew up alongside his older sister in a hard-working family and was known as a kind child with a huge heart, spending most of his time surrounded by friends and family. Aldridge loved fishing, video games and bo2ard games, and played for his high school’s football team. 

In June 2019, Aldridge joined the Spartanburg County Sheriff’s Office. Aldridge always wanted to help his community and was immensely proud to be a police officer, with aspirations t  o work with the K9 team and become a detective.  He was posthumously awarded both the medal of honor and the medal of valor. 

Alridge is remembered as a devoted husband, and a true friend to many. He was humble, compassionate, and empathetic, qualities that made him an incredible officer as well as an amazing husband. Two days before his passing, Aldridge was thrilled to learn that his wife was expA2Aecting a child, a baby girl who Jessica would name Claire Austin. 

Spartanburg County Sheriff’s Office Deputy 1st Class Austin Aldridge is survived by his wife Jessica, and his daughter, Claire.
