United States Border Patrol, Minnesota • Line of Duty Death: April 4, 2023

On April 4th, 2023, Border Patrol Agent Alan E. Aurigema died due to a widowmaker heart attack in the line of duty.

Aurigema was born in Newport News, Virginia, and eventually moved to North Tonawanda, New York. Aurigema was the oldest of three boys and was always outside playing sports, traveling, or working on cars with his father. The water was his happy place, as his fondest childhood memories come from camping, swimming and fishing with his family and friends.

Aurigema had aspirations to serve his country from a young age. Influenced by his upbringing near the border and his ability to speak Spanish, he decided to become a border patrol agent on February 28th, 2011. Here, Aurigema loved helping train new border patrol agents and creating lifelong friendships. He poured every ounce of his effort into everyday life, always bringing his absolute best to helping others. Aurigema always wore a bright smile and was known as the most well-liked guy at the station.

Aurigema and his family loved to travel while exploring the different cultures of the world and exploring fascinating new places. Aurigema was an incredibly loving husband and an amazing father to his sons. Aurigema was the most proud Buffalonian and the biggest Buffalo Bills fan despite the team’s streak of losses. He is deeply missed by everyone who knew him, and his legacy lives on vicariously through his children.

Border Patrol Agent Alan E. Aurigema is survived by his wife, Megan and his two sons, Luca and Leo.
