On April 28th, 2011 United States Marine Corps Lance Corporal Ronald Douglas Freeman passed away after sacrificing himself in order to save his infantry team from an Improvised Explosive Device.
Freeman grew up in Plant City, Florida. He graduated from Plant City High School and was a member of East Thonotosassa Baptist Church. Following this, Freeman enlisted in the United States Marines and was assigned to 2nd Combat Engineer Battalion, 2nd Marine Division, II Marine Expeditionary Force, located in Camp Lejeune, North Carolina. At the time of his death, Lance Corporal Freeman was conducting combat operations in Helmand province of Afghanistan.
United States Marine Corps Lance Corporal Ronald Douglas Freeman is survived by his wife, Katie, and their two children, Katelyn and Doug. Freeman passed away on his daughter’s 1st birthday and only ten days after the birth of his son.
