Breaking Ground: Tunnel to Towers Foundation Unveils Plans for a New Residential Facility for Homeless Veterans in Bradenton, FL

The Tunnel to Towers Foundation, a nonprofit dedicated to supporting America’s first responders, Gold Star families, and military veterans, is committed to eradicating veteran homelessness in Florida.

A groundbreaking ceremony for the “Bradenton Veterans Village” was held on Saturday, June 15, 2024.

Manatee County donated 8.7 acres of real estate in Bradenton, Florida, to the Tunnel to Towers Foundation to build this state-of-the-art Veterans Village.

When completed in 2025, the village located at 4410 66th Street West will feature a new 84-unit apartment complex, an on-site comprehensive supportive service center, and a community of 38 Comfort Homes.

In addition to the wrap-around on-site services, the complex will have a gym, workforce development center, outside amenities center, pickleball court, multipurpose room, game room,  and lounges.

The groundbreaking event featured samples of Cole Hauser’s Free Rein Coffee, a complimentary lunch provided by retired members of the FDNY, and family-friendly activities in the kid’s zone.

The facility in Bradenton is part of the nationwide Tunnel to Towers Foundation’s Homeless Veteran Program. Since the program launched in 2023, the Foundation has provided housing assistance and services to more than 5,000 veterans.

The Foundation’s Homeless Veteran Program currently provides housing to Veterans in Houston, TX, Riverside, CA, West Los Angeles, CA, Austin, TX, and Phoenix, AZ. Tunnel to Towers is creating housing for Veterans in twenty other cities including Memphis, TN, Denver, CO, Charleston, SC, Buffalo, NY, and Harrisburg, PA.

Tunnel to Towers continues to support America’s heroes by providing mortgage-free homes to Gold Star and fallen first responder families with young children and by building specially adapted smart homes for catastrophically injured veterans and first responders.

In nearby Land O’Lakes, the Foundation is building the Let Us Do Good Village, a community of nearly 100 homes explicitly for Injured Veterans and First Responders, Gold Star families, and families of fallen first responders.
